Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the BimmerLight Pro mobile application ("the app", "we", "our") handles information. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.

01Information we collect

We designed BimmerLight Pro to work without collecting personal data. Specifically:

• No account or profile. The app requires no sign-up, login, name, email, or password to function.
• No analytics or tracking. The app contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, and no third-party trackers.
• No location data. The app never requests or accesses your device location.
• No personal identifiers. We do not collect your device ID, advertising ID, contacts, photos, or files.

02Bluetooth & permissions

The app uses Bluetooth solely to connect to the ELM327-compatible OBD-II adapter you choose. To do this, Android requires the BLUETOOTH_CONNECT permission (and, on some devices, BLUETOOTH_SCAN), used only to find and communicate with your adapter.

• The app connects only to a device you explicitly select from your paired adapters.
• The BLUETOOTH_SCAN permission is declared with the neverForLocation flag — it is never used to derive your location.
• We do not scan for, catalog, or transmit information about other Bluetooth devices around you.

03Vehicle data

When connected, the app reads diagnostic information from your car's on-board computer, which may include: diagnostic trouble codes, live sensor readings (such as engine RPM, speed, coolant temperature, and battery voltage), freeze-frame data, and your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

• Processed on your device. This data is read from your vehicle and shown to you in real time. It is processed entirely on your phone.
• Not transmitted. The app has no internet permission and cannot send this data anywhere. It is never uploaded to us or any third party.
• Not stored persistently. Live readings, trouble codes, and your VIN are held only in memory during a session and are discarded when you close the app or disconnect.

04Information stored on your device

The app saves a small amount of data locally on your phone so it can remember your choices between sessions. This never leaves your device:

• Your display preferences (units, temperature scale, and app toggles).
• The Bluetooth name and address of the last adapter you connected to, so it can reconnect automatically if you enable that option.

You can clear this at any time by using "Forget" on the adapter in Settings, clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or uninstalling the app.

05How your information is shared

We do not share your information with anyone. Because the app collects no personal data and has no network access, there is no data to sell, rent, or disclose to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers. We do not receive your vehicle data at all.

06Data retention & deletion

All app data lives only on your device. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored, including your preferences and the saved adapter. There is no server-side data for us to retain or for you to request the deletion of.

07Children's privacy

BimmerLight Pro is a vehicle diagnostic tool intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

08Security

Because your data stays on your device and is never transmitted, its security is tied to the security of your own phone. We recommend keeping your device and its operating system up to date and protected with a screen lock.

09Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
